In the 1860s an American who visited Switzerland would produce an indelible impression on the world of watchmaking in this European country with his idea of establishing a watch factory that takes advantage of low wages and the ability premises. In 1869, Florentine Ariosto Jones, of Boston, was established in Schaffhausen, in eastern Switzerland where he took a factory that operated with hydropower provided by the Rhine. Jones, who was intending to export their products to the United States, called his company International Watch Co.. and since its inception the company has been marking the milestone in industruia watch. Its 18-gauge models are the first to use the rope crown, and are now collector’s items. To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the signature creation, was made a limited series of 125 copies of the model “Destriero Scafusa”, sold in Britain at a price of 125,000 pounds each. The most characteristic is the “Pilot Mark XII’s” machinery of quartz and dual engine gradual progress.
