Longines Watches
In 1832, Auguste Aggassiz established his business in St. Imer, in the Jura. Based in a traditional house of the place, the company was responsible for buying parts of watches that were then assembled, adjusted and finished in workshops, then himself Aggassiz was responsible for distributing its products.
When Charles Lindbergh made his first solo voyage across the Atlantic aboard his monoplane, The Spirit of St Louis, he did in his wrist carrying a Longines watch. During the 33 hour flight, Lindbergh was kept awake mentally designing a clock that would allow pilots to determine the length, and his idea was the germ of “Lindbergh Angle-hour”, conducted by Longines, which appeared in 1937 and immediately became in a bestseller. Perhaps to compensate for the appearance would be a bit of his main collection, Longines launched the series “Golden Wings”, directed mainly at young audiences, while the “Conquest VHP”, launched in 1984, soon became the most popular model of Longines.
