Oris Watches

Oms Oris, leading manufacturer of watches of the twentieth century, was founded in 1904 by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, and since its inception has been marked by independence. Oris began in 1938 to manufacture entirely all parts of their watches and produced the model “Pointer Calendar” has distinguished himself since the signing. A Swiss law enacted in the 30s regulating the production of pocket watches and bracelets and expressly forbade the manufacture of Oris watches to include in their escape mechanisms gemstones, as well as certain anti systems in connection with this type of material. To prove that their clocks had a great precision and were perfectly manufactured, the firm presented several of their models to an official test, which finally got the official certification of quality that allowed him to call their watches “timers.” Today Ons manufactures only watches with leakages of precious stones, and over the years has been making changes: watches with automatic indicator of energy reserve (1952), the first chronograph (1970), his first mechanical alarm (manufactured in 1988 a limited range). His piece remains the most representative model “Big Crown”, originally designed for the Air Force of the United States during World War II, a watch easy to use even with gloves.
